GEOMETRIC MINIMALISM: HIGH FIDELITY
THE COLOR OF MUSIC

My work is a response to art which beseeches viewers to react emotionally to the world around them. Meant to deny the temptation for reflection of the soul, the colors, paint, lines, vibrations, scale, intervals and texture are an external expression of order. And yet, there is no denial of meaning in these geometric minimalist works. While emotional context is illusive, the vibration of colors is evocative of self reference in themes of musical rhythm, club life from era past, techno beats and narcissism. Through usage of repetitive vertical/horizontal stripes in oil with alkyd and resin on canvas, linen and Russian birch panels, the viewer is prompted to experience the dance of colors; each specifically chosen to vibrate one against the other so that he or she may feel, see and hear the musical pulse. As each color bounces off the other, the choice of color influences the experience for the viewer. As the viewer participates in this synthesis of senses, the impact of color on humans is brought to focus and yet not meant for interpretation.

PRESS RELEASE
“High Fidelity”

Mia Feroleto is delighted to announce the reopening of Green + Blue Gallery at its new location:  646 South Main Street in the Lower Village of Stowe.  With a focus on contemporary art from Vermont, New York and around the world, the gallery is presenting the work of two painters and one photographer for the inaugural exhibition.  British artist Philip Inwood will present his abstract oils on wood panels painted with broad, gestural brush strokes.  His color palate reflects that of the other painter in the exhibition, Heidi Spector who lives and works in Montreal.  Inwood studied with Howard Hodgkin while at university and there is an echo of Hodgkin’s influence in his work.
Heidi Spector uses hard line geometric forms to convey a sense of space and color.  Color is the unifying principle in the exhibition with a preponderance of the color orange throughout the show.  This is Spector’s first exhibition at Green + Blue Gallery.

Brooklyn based photographer Julia Baum is showcased with images from her series, “A Rare Breed,” portraits of redheaded individuals of different ages, genders, and backgrounds.  A redhead herself, Julia’s photography explores the idea that being born a redhead in some ways forces an individual to choose to express their uniqueness in some pronounced manner.

The exhibition opens on April 9th and runs through April 30th with an opening reception on April 9th from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
from now until Memorial Day when hours will be extended.  For more information, please contact Mia Feroleto at 802 730 5331, or by email
